City Of Waco Wetlands Workday
- Mission:
- The Lake Waco Wetlands were constructed as a habitat mitigation project that began as a result of raising the level of Lake Waco by 7 feet. The wetlands function to provide habitat for native species, to help "clean" water, and to provide educational programs and science-based activities for visitors.
- Volunteer Duties:
- General cleanup of the wetlands
- Volunteer Requirements:
- Wear appropriate outdoor clothing, such as closed-toed shoes, and be prepared to bring sunscreen and other items.
- Training:
- All necessary training will be provided on-site.
- Time Commitment:
- Any time commitment is welcomed, but volunteering must be scheduled ahead of time.
- Group Volunteering:
- Groups are welcome, but must be scheduled ahead of time.
- Recommended For:
- Students in the fields of biology, ecology and more
- Benefits:
- Volunteers gain hands-on experiences in the biological and environmental sciences in a wetland environment while enjoying the outdoors.
