Big Brothers Big Sisters
- Mission:
- Big Brothers Big Sisters describes itself as a one-on-one youth mentoring organization that develops positive relationships that have a direct and lasting impact on the lives of young people ages 6-16.
- Volunteer Duties:
- Meet with a child just a few times a month to enjoy activities such as shooting hoops, playing board games, sharing a pizza, going for walks or just hanging out.
- Volunteer Requirements:
- Volunteers must provide references and go through a background check and a careful interview process.
- Training:
- Volunteers receive support from professional staff members at the local agency who check in regularly and are always available to answer questions.
- Time Commitment:
- Volunteers must make a minimum 12-month commitment, meeting with their Little Brother or Little Sister two-three times a month for a few hours.
- Group Volunteering:
- Groups are welcome to participate at special events. Couples and families can be a "Big" together.
- Recommended For:
- Students in the fields of human services, education and many more
- Benefits:
- Volunteers benefit by forming a lasting, positive relationship with their Little Brother or Little Sister, while doing activities that they already enjoy.
