- Mission:
- Improve the quality of life for animal and people in Central Texas through humane sheltering, community education, and advocacy on behalf of all animals.
- Volunteer Duties:
- Assist in a variety of ways, including dog walking, dog training, socializing the animals, cleaning cages, grooming, helping with adoptions, administrative tasks, taking pictures of pets and uploading to Petfinder, creating flyers, landscaping, maintenance, and more.
- Volunteer Requirements:
- Volunteers must attend an orientation, held every Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Humane Society.
- Training:
- Volunteers receive some training at the volunteer orientation, which includes learning about shelter services and dog socialization.
- Time Commitment:
- Recommended time is five hours a month — with flexible schedules.
- Group Volunteering:
- Group volunteers are welcome. Single day of service includes helping with adoption events, painting projects and general shelter cleaning.
- Recommended For:
- Education, business and medical students can apply for internships for their majors.
- Benefits:
- Volunteers learn more about animals and animal behavior and will work directly with staff and customers to help save lives of shelter animals.
