This page provides links to a variety of professional development resources for both faculty and staff. Some of these are subscriptions the college has purchased for your use, materials available for checkout to MCC employees, and links to organizations that provide development materials or hold development conferences.

  • Please visit https://www.pryor.com/training-seminars/to review all available seminars. Seminars range from $149 to $299+. Full time faculty and staff are welcome to apply for PD funding in your department is unable to cover the cost.

 

Starlink : This is a service subscribed to by MCC and available to all MCC employees. The login information will be disseminated via the POD Newsletter. Starlink offers a variety of video-streamed webcasts each available for a limited time. They also keep a Library of webcasts for your use. These include:

  1. Monthly Streaming Videos: Twelve previously broadcast STARLINK programs (60-90 minutes) that are available on-demand at the desktop for an entire month.
  2. Annual Streaming Videos: The best of STARLINK's program library (60-90 minutes programs).
  3. Ideas: Three to seven minute classroom teaching tips available on your computer until August 31, 2008.

Starlink is an agency of the Texas Association of Community Colleges and the oldest satellite and Internet-based educational network in the country. The Starlink network currently provides regular professional development programs to MCC and 140 member colleges and universities in twenty-four states and Canada. To access the Starlink webcasts, you must have either Windows Media Player or Real Player on your computer.

Reminder: Faculty may submit outside professional development activities to your supervisor for approval by using the POD Professional Development Credit Request form available in SoftDocs. Be sure to include how much time was spent doing each activity as well as the agenda for the event that was attended. The PD Credit Request is administered by the Department Chair and Dean. The PD Department is not involved. Faculty may submit outside step credit activities to your supervisor for approval by using the Step Credit Pre-Approval and Final Approval forms in SoftDocs.
