Projects
This page is updated on a regular basis and lists major ISS projects by status: Current and Past (completed within the current year).
This does not include all projects, nor does it include unplanned outages. For this information, refer to Tech Support.
*MDD stands for Modified Due Date. Should a project deliverable/end date need to be adjusted, due to applicable project constraints, MDD will be added as the new due date.
Current
Colleague: Create one Summer Term (combine Summer 1 & Summer 2)
End date: March 2025
Status: Underway
This initiative aims to identify and eliminate custom Colleague code for the Summer Term. Currently there is a Summer 1 and Summer 2 term. These will be combined to make one Summer Term in Colleague. Eliminating the custom code will streamline and improve efficiency in the system.
Colleague/Slate Integration
End date: September 2024 (MDD*: 5/1/25)
Status: Underway
This initiative aims to select a vendor for professional services to integrate Ellucian Colleague and Technolutions Slate. This will enable the Admissions and Recruiting Department to easily track applications, document submissions, and interact with prospective students. Prospective students will receive an improved and efficient experience while fulfilling the requirements for admission.
Consolidate Active Directory (AD) Domains
End date: TBD
Status: Project Charter & Requirements underway, due 3/21
This project is a crucial step in McLennan Community College’s (MCC) long-term IT strategy, streamlining identity management, reducing administrative overhead, and enhancing user experience. By consolidating user identities into a single domain, authentication will be simplified, reducing login-related support issues.
This integration enables full synchronization with Microsoft and Google services, facilitating the migration of faculty and staff email to Office 365, improving scheduling and collaboration tools, and enhancing email security. Faculty will also gain better access to Microsoft’s education tools, enriching student engagement. A unified domain will support seamless campus-wide printing, simplify IT management, and enforce consistent security policies. Ultimately, this consolidation lays the foundation for modernizing services, strengthening security, and improving digital operations for faculty, staff, and students.
Employee Laptop and Desktop Replacement (FY2025)
End date: August 2025
Status: Deployment phase
This initiative aims to help implement an equipment replacement plan for employees' laptop/desktop computers. This will ensure students, faculty, and staff have the equipment needed to achieve their goals. The estimate is to have laptops on a 4 year rotation and desktops on a 5 year rotation.
Schedule of Classrooms and Employees
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
End date: TBD
Status: Requirements complete; project charter in progress, due 1/30 (MDD*: 2/28/25)
This project implements multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help protect systems and applications across campus. MFA uses an additional source of validation before granting access to users. This also enhances Cybersecurity and is one of the most effective ways, for a system, to ensure the person logging in to the account is who they say they are (authentication).
WebAdvisor Retirement
End date: August 2023 (MDD*: 3/28/25)
Status: Underway
This initiative migrates all functionality from WebAdvisor to MyMCC; and eventually, retires WebAdvisor. This project reviews the current usage, collaborates with stakeholders, and migrates functionality to other services like MyMCC (formerly Colleague Self-Service). Functionality with a clear and simple migration will be transitioned first. Highly customized applications will require significant work and time for migration.
