This page is updated on a regular basis and lists major ISS projects by status: Current, Future and Past (completed within the current year).
This does not include all projects, nor does it include unplanned outages. For this information, refer to Tech Support.
Current
Colleague/Slate Integration
End date: January 2025
Status: Build integration, due 1/30
This initiative aims to select a vendor for professional services to integrate Ellucian Colleague and Technolutions Slate. This will enable the Admissions and Recruiting Department to easily track applications, document submissions, and interact with prospective students. Prospective students will receive an improved and efficient experience while fulfilling the requirements for admission.
Employee Laptop and Desktop Replacement (FY2025)
End date: August 2025
Status: Procurement due, 2/28/25
This initiative aims to help implement an equipment replacement plan for employees' laptop/desktop computers. This will ensure students, faculty, and staff have the equipment needed to achieve their goals. The estimate is to have laptops on a 4 year rotation and desktops on a 5 year rotation.
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
End date: TBD
Status: Project charter and requirements in progress, due 11/30
This project implements multi-factor authentication (MFA) to help protect systems and applications across campus. MFA uses an additional source of validation before granting access to users. This also enhances Cybersecurity and is one of the most effective ways, for a system, to ensure the person logging in to the account is who they say they are (authentication).
MyMCC Transition (aka WebAdvisor Retirement)
End date: November 2024
Status: Underway
This initiative migrates all functionality from WebAdvisor to MyMCC; and eventually, retires WebAdvisor. This project reviews the current usage, collaborates with stakeholders, and migrates functionality to other services like MyMCC (formerly Colleague Self-Service). Functionality with a clear and simple migration will be transitioned first. Highly customized applications will require significant work and time for migration.
Future
Project Dashboard FY 2026 - FY 2029, TBD.
Past
Colleague/Brightspace Integration
End date: November 2024
Status: Complete
This project performs an integration with Colleague and Brightspace to quickly provision/deprovision classes and accounts in near real time and automatically. Right now, updates are only done twice per business day manually. This has led to severe delays in access and class creation. Additionally, data will be fed back to help receive important data quickly.
Computer Lab Equipment Replacement
End date: August 2024
Status: Complete
This initiative aims to help implement an equipment replacement plan for the computer lab laptop/desktop computers. This will ensure students, faculty, and staff have the equipment needed to achieve their goals. The estimate is to have laptops on a 4 year rotation and desktops on a 5 year rotation.
Document Management Replacement
End date: February 2024
Status: Complete
Document Management Project Charter
This initiative determines a direction for document management including requirements, vendor/product selection, and implementation. A customer steering committee will be formed to develop requirements and select a product. ISS will work through procurement and implementation. This initiative replaces the current implementation of Perceptive ImageNOW.
Email Exchange Upgrade & Migration
End date: January 2024
Status: Complete
This initiative migrates and upgrades faculty and staff email service to the exchange service. This work is necessary to ensure faculty and staff email service is secure with continued vendor support.
Employee Laptop and Desktop Replacement (FY2024)
End date: October 2024
Status: Complete
This initiative aims to help implement an equipment replacement plan for employees' laptop/desktop computers. This will ensure students, faculty, and staff have the equipment needed to achieve their goals. The estimate is to have laptops on a 4 year rotation and desktops on a 5 year rotation.
Migrate Backup Target
End date: November 2024
Status: Complete
This initiative upgrades our backup hardware with newer, faster equipment to replace outdated systems nearing end-of-life. The new backup target extends data protection longevity and significantly improves backup speeds, enabling more frequent backups. This ensures greater data availability, minimizes downtime, and enhances our disaster recovery readiness.
Splunk (Logging & Audit tool) Implementation
End date: May 2024
Status: Complete
This project implements a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool to enable faster response to security and system related events. This tool aggregates (or groups) logging information from multiple systems allowing ISS staff to retrieve, analyze, report on, and correlate event data.
Telephones in Instructional Classrooms
End date: November 2024
Status: Underway
Telephones in Instructional Classrooms Project Charter
This initiative aims to provide two-way communication, with first responders, in instructional spaces (classrooms). Phones will be installed in each classroom, where one does not exist. This will also comply with Texas Law (TEC Texas Education Code 37.108) and McLennan Community College (MCC) Department of Emergency & Risk Management to ensure a notification system is in place, in the event of an emergency.
