External/Correspondence Exams

All requests to take exams for organizations or institutions other than McLennan Community College should be sent to testingservices@mclennan.edu. Individuals taking a proctored exam should verify their exam has been received by our facility before they arrive.

Proctored Exams Guidelines for Institutions/Organizations

  1. The following information should be included when submitting a proctored exam. This information should come directly from the student’s professor, school, or organization.
    • Test taker’s name
    • Test taker's email address
    • Institution/Organization name
    • Course name and number (if applicable)
    • Exam Name
    • Dates/times test is available (Note: the instructor must contact the Testing Center directly if a student is approved to retest after the deadline provided)
    • Standard time allotted on the test
    • Number of attempts/retest information
    • Instructor’s name and day/evening contact information
    • Allowed testing materials (e.g., scratch paper, dictionary, Scantron type, calculator type)
      • MCC Testing Services is not able to accommodate open book/open note exams. Exceptions can be made for students with authorized accommodations. This does not include index cards, professor-provided formula sheets, or mandated course materials (e.g., coding manual).
    • Prohibited testing materials
    • Special test instruction including passwords and website address for computer exams, etc.
    • Any software required for testing that needs downloading
    • Preferred method to return paper/pencil exams and/or notes cards, scratch paper, etc.
  2. All requests for testing services should be submitted at least 48-business hours (2 business days) in advance to testingservices@mclennan.edu. Once your submission has been received and approved, registration for the submitted request will become available for the tester to schedule their appointment through our scheduling software, RegsiterBlast.
  3. A time limit must be designated for all exams and should be indicated in minutes. MCC Testing Services is unable to accommodate exams with unlimited time limits. Time limits should be the STANDARD time for the exam. If the student has an approved testing accommodation for extra time, and the appropriate documentation is on file, the test length will be adjusted accordingly.
  4. Students who have approved accommodations must submit to Testing Services an accommodation letter from their Institution of Higher Education outlining the details of their approved testing accommodations 24-business hours (1 business day) prior to testing.

EXAM FEE
$25.00 (plus $3.50 service fee)

MCC Testing Services fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Students will be required to schedule a new appointment and repay any testing center fees, if they do not reschedule prior to their scheduled appointment time, arrive late, or do not show for their scheduled appointment.

Proctored Exam Guidelines for Students

Proctored testing is offered Monday-Friday. Please check the MCC Testing Services website for testing hours and closures. The latest a student may schedule an appointment depends on the time limit set for the exam. Exams are picked up 10 minutes prior to closing, so students should consider this when scheduling their exams.

  1. All students are responsible for registering and paying for their exams through RegisterBlast scheduling software, available at www.registerblast.com/mclennan.
  2. Students who have approved accommodations must submit an accommodation letter from their Institution of Higher Education outlining the details of their approved testing accommodations 24-business hours (1 working day) prior to testing. Students approved for and requesting a live reader or scribe must request these services 24-business hours(1 working day) in advance.
  3. Testing is available on a walk-in basis; however, students who choose to walk-in, instead of registering in advance, will be served on a space-available basis.
  4. A valid, unexpired photo ID is required for all testing. Acceptable forms of government-issued IDs include a driver’s license, state ID card, passport, military ID, national ID, tribal ID, naturalization card, certificate of citizenship, or permanent resident card (Green Card). A photo or photocopy of an ID is not acceptable. Photos must be clear and recognizable. Student IDs are acceptable for the following exams: MCC MPE, MCC Course Exams, Correspondence Exams, and TSIA.
  5. Students should only bring items approved for testing. All items that are not approved for testing, will be stored in a secured locker provided by the testing center. This includes sunglasses, hats/caps, headcovers/wraps (headbands, scrunches, and clips are allowed), backpacks, bags, purses, hooded garments, jackets/coats, watches, bracelets, food/drinks, unauthorized calculators, unauthorized textbooks and study materials, cell phones, or any device which can receive or transmit a wireless signal (unless permitted as a medically documented device, authorized testing accommodation, or for religious purposes). Note: All electronic devices should be powered off when it is stored in a locker. MCC Testing Services assumes no liability for lost or stolen items.
  6. Student may not access his/her personal belongings or leave the Testing Services department without permission once testing has begun.
  7. Students should know their login credentials to take their exam.
  8. The MCC Testing Services department is not able to accommodate open book/open note exams. Exceptions can be made for students with authorized accommodations. This does not include index cards, professor provided formula sheets, or mandated course materials that are required to complete the exam and approved ahead of time by Testing Services (e.g., coding manual).
  9. Students should arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled appointment time
  10. Students who arrive more than 10 minutes past their scheduled appointment time are considered late, will not be allowed to test, and will be required to register for a new testing appointment.
  11. MCC Testing Services fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. Students will be required to schedule a new appointment and repay any testing fees, if they do not reschedule prior to their scheduled appointment time, arrive late, or do not show for their scheduled appointment.
  12. No talking is permitted during testing in the testing room.
  13. Calculators permitted for specific exams only and subject to inspection. Note: Student provided calculators must be a handheld calculator that is not a part of a prohibited device. Calculator covers are not allowed.
  14. All tests and testing materials will be picked up 10 minutes prior to closing.
  15. Examinees may not remove any tests, test materials, notes, or scratch paper from the Testing Services department.
  16. Acts of dishonesty are reported.
  17. Only the exam candidate is allowed in the Testing Services department Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to be left unattended in the Testing Center or any other area of the college during testing.
