Description
- All software installed on MCC-owned computer systems must be appropriately licensed.
- The individual installing or authorizing the installation of software is responsible for being familiar with the terms of the license agreement.
- Individuals or departments should maintain sufficient documentation to validate that software is appropriately licensed (e.g., End User License Agreements, purchase receipts).
- Software may not be copied or installed unless specifically allowed by the licensing agreement.
- Software that can be installed by users without elevated privileges is allowed; users are strongly encouraged to check with ISS to learn if there are known security, privacy, compatibility, or licensing issues with new software.
- Software that requires elevated privileges to install or run must be approved by the Chief Information & Technology Officer's designee for the information resource.
