View Position Description

Ambassadors are an honorary group of selected students to represent the college. Their primary goal is to assist in the delivery of outreach programs and services targeting underrepresented populations and promote college enrollment throughout local schools and community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Students must have completed at least 12 credit hours
  • Earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher at McLennan Community College
  • Be in good standing in the community and MCC.
  • Must NOT serve as a Student Government Association officer during academic year of appointment (Student Ambassador and Student Government position require significant time)
  • Must be registered for a minimum of 6 semester hours both at the time of selection and during time served

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas driver's license
  • Fluency in a language other than English

Academic performance, leadership potential and communication skills are also qualities required for this position

Each Student Ambassador commits to one full year, and three service hours per week in the Student Admissions and Recruitment Office. There is also a program meeting once a month that is mandatory to attend.

Work Activities & Conditions: Each Ambassador will be assigned to one of McLennan County high school districts. Student Ambassadors will visit local schools to meet with interested students and provide information. Ambassadors will lead campus tours. Ambassadors will attend college fairs and assist with various campus events. They will also staff the campus phone bank of campus information booth during registration periods and semester start up. They will ensure the proper distribution of MCC informational brochures to area schools. The Ambassadors may have other duties as assigned.

Selection Process: Student Ambassadors are selected through a process that includes an application, an interview, and two references.
