This is a fully online program, meaning your education will meet you right where you are. Online courses offer you the flexibility you need to succeed, all while delivering the most up-to-date content. Save time by working from home or enjoy one of MCC's many computer labs to complete your work.

If you enjoy the challenge of a fast-paced job, working as part of a team and seeing projects to completion, this is the program for you. Along with extensive instruction in computer software, keyboarding, accounting and communication, you'll learn the professionalism and ethics needed for a rewarding office career.

Your skills and expertise will prepare you for several positions, including:

  • Medical Office Assistant
  • Data Entry Specialist

Some of the skills you will learn include:

  • Communication Skills- Apply basic rules of grammar; utilize terminology applicable to business writing, speaking, and presentations
  • Office Procedures- Create and maintain filing systems, create travel arrangements, plan events from start to finish, organize an effective meeting, and produce business documents
  • Teamwork- Work as a team to complete group projects and reach goals by considering different points of view and working with others
  • Time Management- Develop skills needed to complete tasks and meet deadlines Critical Thinking- Make decisions and apply ethical standards using creative thinking, innovation, inquiry, and analysis of information
  • Software Integration- Produce documents, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations using Microsoft Office software
  • Desktop Publishing- Use publishing software to create finished documents and forms
  • Records Management- Use database software to create and maintain electronic records as well as apply records management theories to hard copy records
  • Customer Service- Apply principles and processes of customer service, including assessing customer needs, quality standards, and customer satisfaction

You can earn a certificate in as little as one semester or earn an associate degree in two years of full-time study.
