McLennan Community College

The Interpreter Training program at McLennan Community College can help students reach their goals, whether they want to study Deafness and American Sign Language (ASL) or become a Professional ASL/English interpreter.

Job Requirements 

Assistant Professor, Interpreter Training (Full Time)

Education: Master’s Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Interpreting, or in a related field from an accredited college or university, with a minimum of 18 graduate hours related to ASL and/or Interpreting.

Experience: At least three years of current work experience in the field of interpreting and/or training interpreters. Experience teaching and/or mentoring adult learners regarding ASL or interpreting.

Certifications: Interpreter Certification: BEI, RID, or other recognized accrediting entities.

Instructor, Interpreter Training (Part-Time)

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) or Interpreting, or in a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: 3 year of experience teaching ASL and/or interpreting as part of formal classes.

Certifications: Interpreter Certification through BEI, RID, or other recognized accrediting entities.
