Business Management

If you are looking to start a management career or advance in your current job, you will get the tools you need to succeed in our management program. The management program focuses on a broad range of skills and necessary training for those entering or working in supervisory positions or small-business management.

Our academic pathway emphasizes leadership, conflict resolution, operational and strategic management, effective communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. Students in the degree program will also complete two semester-long internships with local businesses to enhance their studies and provide real work experience.

Entry-level positions open to those completing the program include customer service manager, sales manager, shift leader, department manager, and store manager. The Management program includes two opportunities for students to complete an internship at their current employer. MCC does not offer internship placement, therefore students must be working at least 20 hours per week at an employer or organization that will allow the student to complete an internship. Students who are unable to complete an internship should consider the Business Administration program.

Management Pathway

MCC's Management Pathway is designed for students to earn stackable credentials as they progress toward their degree.  These stackable credentials - Occupational Skills Awards (OSA) and Certificates - indicate that the student has successfully grown in their knowledge, skills, and abilities relating to business management.  Students may use these credentials to seek raises and promotions or to seek a new job with better compensation.  The stackable credentials offered by the Management Pathway also make it possible for current and potential employers to recognize an applicant's knowledge and skill through verifiable credentials backed by McLennan Community College.

Following the Management Pathway requires no additional courses - the Business Management AAS is comprised of all courses contained within the OSA and Certificate.  Once a Business Management degree has been earned, students have the option of taking additional general academics courses that are transferable to our partner universities: Tarleton State University and Texas Tech.  The completion of the Business Management AAS and transferable general academics courses allows the student to save thousands of dollars in tuition costs!
