Begin the discussion of Process Improvement and the Areas of Consideration that were outlined in the CiCero report.

  1. If applicant does not have a student record, connecting a FAFSA to the student is a difficult and tedious process.
  • This has been resolved and we now run a report in Colleague daily to identify students who have applied for admissions and have an ISIR ready to import. (These are students who completed their FAFSA before applying for Admissions which results in there being no record for the ISIR to link with)
  1. Financial Aid department follows up with students who are selected for verification often via phone, when it seems that students are stuck.
  • This process is helpful and we will continue to reach out to students this way. Global Financial Aid Services sends us an “Excessive Reject Report” that identifies students whose documents have been rejected three times.   This manual outreach is helpful…….Our staff walks the students through the process and helps them understand the correct documentation that is needed.
  1. All follow up and assistance outreach is manual and optional; there is no set cadence to contact students regarding financial aid.
  • We will continue discussing ways to improve our outreach to students.

We are planning to set up ZOOM in our office to add an additional way for students to receive financial aid assistance.  Lauren and I visited Tina Lyles area to view how they use ZOOM in Advising and we will be working out a process to use our office.
