The Enrollment Management Process Improvement – Advising Task Force Subcommittee was held from 10:00 am – 11:00 am in SSC 234.
Discussion:
- Paul Hoffman introduced the committee goals, to explore various avenues to improving the overall enrollment process.
- Natalie James was introduced as a new member to the committee. She discussed upcoming changes to the Completion Center and how it will impact the enrollment process. The goal is for success coaches to create relationships with FTIC students from the moment they apply through their first year at MCC; they plan to assist with welcoming students and walking through the new student process.
- Discussed the potential order of operations between Highlander Central, Completion Center, and Advising & Career Services. Who will be the go-to for new transfer students?
Changes Proposed by the Committee:
- Implementation of the Slate automated application checklist to help students understand next steps. Multiple visits to campus and confusion about where to go for help were listed as pain points for students in the Cicero report.
- Update the welcome email to be short, fun, and welcoming. It would congratulate students on acceptance, contain student ID/sign-in information, and a hyperlink to their automated application checklist.
- Improve communication about bacterial meningitis hold, specifically. Students are often not aware they have a hold about the shot record and the hold does not always work in Student Planning. Often times it isn’t discovered until the student is trying to register.
