Lisa brought meeting to order and introduced Megan Esparza as a student member to the committee. She then reviewed the minutes form last March.
Lisa spoke of the success of the Employee Education Assistance Luncheon in July.
Dustie stated there were three possible companies interested in signing an MOU with MCC after their representatives attended the luncheon. These companies currently have signed an MOU with us:
- Amazon
- City of Waco
- Educators Credit Union
- Farm Bureau Insurance
Dustie stated she is working on reaching out to larger companies.
Lisa spoke of the success of two companies we have hired to assist with contacting students who have applied but not enrolled: Niche and Motimatic. Motimatic mainly works through social media, and we only pay them if the student actually enrolls. They have assisted us with enrolling 111 students.
This year’s Registration Rally will take place November 6 – November 9, 2023.
Karen spoke of bringing student groups to campus to tour and encourage enrollment.
This semesters Rising Star events will take place October 16 and November 14.
- Frank spoke of including GED top five for scholarships
- Karen suggested GED five McLennan Scholars and five Rising Stars.
- Michelle spoke of when students are taking classes and scoring processes.
- Lisa suggested meeting with Dr. Benson to add scholarships for GED students.
- Jen suggested a congratulations packet for students.
Karen and Michelle will meet to speak about AEL students and next step planning.
Lisa asked for suggestions on additional students to join our committee. Michele suggested Quashawn Brown
Lisa went over what the SEM steering committee had discussed at their last meeting.
Work Force advisors are meeting w/students to encourage early enrollment
Lisa asked that the committee come up goals and strategies for this coming year.
Goals:
Dustie Focus on adult learners 25years and older
Jen Going to community groups, Civic, etc (Express Pass)
Dustie Finding these community groups, what are their interests?
Frank Marketing Micro credential certificates (CE-has 6, Google -2)
We need awareness ideas
Adding conversations to AEL students
Lisa Increasing community awareness and publicity about MCC
Sending campus wide emails encouraging faculty and staff to talk about MCC within the community.
Gale Reaching out to new residents of Waco.
Visitors Center, Chamber, local tourist spots, Waco websites
New member luncheon at chamber (get list)
Lisa went over what the Steering committee and sub committees are and what they do for the new members.
Lisa shared the Hype video on Youtube and how we use it in the Employee ambassador training.
Lisa mentioned Jon Conrad has asked for a hype video about music. She informed our group how expensive it is and maybe our advertising budget will increase.
Amy suggested using students to make videos. She will look into what group or class is working on them.
Lisa asked that next time we speak about SWOT analysis:
Dustie asked how often our committee should meet. It was decided once a month on the last Friday, 9-10:30am.
