Tarleton State Waco adds new degree offerings
June 3, 2024
Tarleton State University, a partner in MCC’s University Center, is adding new degrees to their academic offerings this Fall 2024. The new degrees are:
- Bachelor of Applied Science (BAAS) in Kinesiology
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Kinesiology
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Sport Management
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Cybersecurity
Tarleton State Waco decided to add these programs because of the need from the local community and surrounding areas. There is a growing demand for qualified professionals within each of the noted industries, and also a strong interest in these areas of study from MCC students. The new offerings give them the opportunity to complete a four-year bachelor’s degree in Waco rather than relocating to pursue their academic aspirations in kinesiology, engineering or cybersecurity.
“With the tremendous support of both MCC and Tarleton State University leadership teams, we are thrilled to announce the launch of six new academic programs at Tarleton State in Waco,” Dr. Shannon Hankhouse, Tarleton State’s Executive Director of External Operations for Waco and Bryan said. “These offerings embody our dedication to excellence and innovation and were selected to meet the evolving needs of MCC, our students and the community. These new academic opportunities represent our commitment to providing affordable, cutting-edge education and preparing our graduates for success in their chosen fields.”
There are a wide range of things that can be done with a degree in these areas.
“By offering top-notch engineering degrees from Tarleton State through MCC’s University Center, our community college becomes a launchpad for aspiring engineers, offering the tools and resources needed to transform bold ideas into reality right here in our local community,” Paulina Sidwell, MCC engineering professor said.
