Aug. 13, 2024

Paulanne’s Pantry, the on-campus food pantry at McLennan Community College, has been chosen to receive $10,000 made available through the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.

Paulanne’s Pantry is a self-serve food resource open to MCC students, faculty and staff, and students, faculty and staff of the College’s University Center partner institutions.

“We are so thankful to have been selected as a recipient of this funding,” Aranza Torres, Student Resources Project Director said. “This will have a significant impact on our campus pantry. This grant will help us supplement the pantry with much needed items we often can’t get from the food bank and other donation sources. With this grant we’ll be able to include basic cooking items like; oil and butter, milk, eggs, and more fresh produce. We’re thrilled to be able to support our students in this way!”

The Pantry’s selection was made by a national board chaired by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consists of representatives from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America; The Salvation Army; and United Way World.
