Partnership brings Early Education Apprenticeship to MCC
April 14, 2023
McLennan Community College and Workforce Solutions for the Heart of Texas are partnering to offer an Early Education Apprenticeship (EEA) on the MCC campus.
The EEA program offers a new infant/toddler and preschool career pathway to those aspiring to be early childhood educators. Apprentices benefit from paid on-the-job-learning and wage increases while earning a Child Development Associate (CDA), level 1 certificate from MCC, and a Department of Labor (DOL) certificate. The 15 college credit hours earned through the apprenticeship program can be applied toward child development associate's and bachelor's degrees at MCC and Tarleton State University through the University Center at MCC.
Apprenticeship applicants must live in Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Limestone or McLennan counties; be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED; hold a current driver’s license, state ID, birth certificate or work visa (non-US citizens); be working a minimum of 30 hours per week in a Texas Rising Start certified program; and have a recommendation from the program director.
Applications are being accepted through Friday, April 28, with classes beginning Monday, July 10.
