First Generation Scholars

If you are currently a high school senior and your parents or guardians never earned an associate’s degree or other college degree, you could be eligible to be a First Generation Scholar. MCC chooses 12-15 incoming students each year to receive a scholarship of up to $8,000. This means each scholar will receive $2,000 per fall and spring semester for two years. Additionally, scholars may be awarded the Harry I. Harelik Book Scholarship for $250.
The First Generation Scholars program guides scholars through the McLennan Community College experience by fostering self-awareness and critical thinking skills to help them in the classroom and in life. Scholars leave the program with clear goals and are ready to transfer to a four-year institution or into a workforce program.
