Campus Update October 15, 2021
Good morning students,
As we continue to strive to keep everyone safe, McLennan Community College will be implementing the following protocols for the safety of employees and students. It is the intent of the Leadership Team to continue holding classes and serving the community safely and effectively. The testing protocols below are to protect our campus community:
Testing
Regardless of vaccination status, all employees and students who travel overnight on MCC business are strongly encouraged to test before travel and upon their return. Individuals who have had and recovered from COVID-19 should not be tested up to 90 days from when they had COVID. Employees and students are strongly encouraged to be tested within 48 hours prior to travel. When individuals return from travel, they should be retested within 3 to 5 days. MCC can provide free COVID-19 self-administered nasal swab rapid tests to determine whether an individual is currently infected with the virus. To schedule an appointment, individuals should go to https://engage.mclennan.edu/portal/covid19_testing.
The free campus testing site is located in the Health Professions Simulation Building. It is available for MCC employees and students, Texas Tech employees and students, and Tarleton employees and students, as well as family members for all of these groups.
Vaccines
Vaccination remains the most effective way to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, according to the Department of State Health Services. Anyone age 12 and older is eligible for the vaccine. Vaccines are readily available at places such as local health care providers including primary care physicians and pharmacies. To locate a vaccine provider, individuals should visit CDC's vaccine finder website.
