Campus Update March 4
Dear Students and Employees,
Our first priority at McLennan Community College during the pandemic is the health and safety of our students, employees, and visitors. As I said in my earlier message, we have been reviewing the potential impact that Texas Governor Gregg Abbott’s Executive Order GA-34 would have on our operations. The Governor’s new order relaxes the current statewide COVID-19 precautions effective March 10. This order also allows private businesses and higher education institutions to establish their own additional hygiene measures, which includes requiring the use of a face covering (among other protocols).
Recommendations regarding face coverings and social distancing from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has not changed. Therefore, as permitted by this executive order, we at McLennan Community College will continue with all current COVID-19 health and safety protocols until further notice. This includes, but is not limited to, the requirement to wear masks or face coverings on campus.
We at the College will continue to monitor guidance from the CDC, as well as The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and we will work closely with the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District on any future modifications to our safety protocols. Together, we as a College family have done a tremendous job navigating the challenges of this pandemic, and I ask for your continued cooperation in following our safety protocols and in self-reporting.
You are important, and your health and welfare are important to your families and to each other. Let’s do our part to reduce the spread of the virus and to be safe. We can do this!
