Medical Administrative Assistants (also called medical office assistants or medical secretaries) are critical in keeping healthcare offices running smoothly, and also play an important role in the patient experience. This course is a total of 50 hours and is offered as a hybrid class. You will be required to meet on Tuesday's and Thursday's face to face each week.
Their duties include: • Maintaining the reception area • Welcoming patients and guests • Scheduling Appointments • Gathering demographic information • Verifying insurance eligibility • Obtaining prior authorizations • Collecting Copayments • Communicating via the phone and the patient portal
This course will prepare you for positions working alongside medical providers performing these administrative duties. Upon completion, you will be prepared for the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national certification exam offered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). Exam fee is included in tuition.
