Intravenous (IV) Therapy Certification
Description
The IV Certification Course is designed for LVN’s, RN’s Paramedics, and any other licensed healthcare professionals who have IV Therapy within their medical scope of practice. This course provides you with the basic understanding of venipuncture techniques, intravenous (IV) infusions, and blood drawing; as well as, Basic information regarding venous system physiology, fluid, electrolytes, blood, blood products, total parenteral nutrition, lipids, and complications of IV therapy. The course is a 16-hour hybrid class which includes 8 hours of online material and 8 hours of hands-on instructor led training. A skills checkoff and exam will be required for the student to achieve their Certificate of Completion.
Program Requirements
- The IV therapy certification course is intended to provide knowledge and experience for licensed healthcare workers (LVN, RN) or individuals working under licensed personnel.
- Possess proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking skills)
- You are at least eighteen (18) years of age
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Active Texas LVN or RN license in good standing
