Advance Placement for LVNs
Transition Course
The transition course is designed to appraise the LVN’s theory base in nursing content and skills as well as introduce nursing theory not presented in traditional vocational nursing curricula.
Criteria for Admission to Course
All applicants for the transition course will be evaluated according to the criteria for the transition course. An application is not complete until all required course work is complete prior to beginning the Transition Course and transcripts and application forms have been submitted. Final selection of the applicants will be made by the admission committee. Transition courses are offered only if space is available in Level 3.
The HESI A2 RN is the admission exam for the nursing program. Applicants are required to complete eight (8) sections of the test.

- Math
- Reading
- Vocabulary & General Knowledge
- Critical Thinking
- Learning Styles
- Personality Profile
The minimum score for the HESI A2 RN is percentile of 78% or higher in each of the following five categories:
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Grammar
- Math
- Reading
- Vocabulary
The following two (2) categories must be completed with no minimum score requirement.

The HESI A2 RN exam may be taken twice per application period. There will be no waiting period between attempts.
HESI A2 RN exam scores are accepted one year from the date taken.
Extra points will be awarded to the HESI A2 RN Critical Thinking Scores scores in the following manner:
Critical Thinking: 951-1000 = 6 points
Critical Thinking: 900-950 = 5 points
Critical Thinking: 851-899 = 4 points
Critical Thinking: 800-850 = 3 points
Critical Thinking: <799 = 0 points
Science courses for advanced placement for LVNs do not have to conform to the within "five years currency" rule.
*Points are determined at the admission application deadline, and only those courses that have been completed by this date will determine the points.

RN to BSN Program
