Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) designed its work from a wide-angle lens, integrating McLennan Community College’s Core Values: People, Inclusiveness, Integrity, Communication, and Excellence. The department is focused on the following primary program elements:
(a) College-wide commitment to DEI values and outcomes;(b) program infrastructure;(c) training plans; and(d) assessment.
Since October 2020, DEI staff members have hosted formal conversations, conducted research, collaborated with colleagues at other institutions, and sought training programs to help determine the department’s direction. This campus conversation and related work is bigger than one division. The department is working alongside campus committees (ex: student, faculty and staff councils), the Professional Development Team, Human Resources, the College Success Team, and other departments such as Student Engagement to make sure a diverse group of people are at the table who are both knowledgeable and invested in DEI work. The goal of DEI work is to foster an environment where everyone believes they are welcome at McLennan Community College and where everyone is free to teach, learn and work together.
Mission
To develop diversity, embrace equity, and incorporate inclusion as we strive to build a cohesive campus culture through:
- targeted programming;
- educational opportunities; and
- community partnerships.
