Welcome to the MCC Math Lab!

Welcome to the McLennan Community College Math Lab. Our mission is to provide support to MCC students enrolled in developmental math classes, as well as to assist student in all levels of math at MCC with resources and walk- in tutoring.

The Math Lab is intended to be a quiet study area. We appreciate your help in maintaining a calm and productive learning environment.

A MCC student ID card is required to sign-in and out when using the Math Lab.

Services:

  • Developmental math labs
    Assistance with MyMathLab tutorial software is available at the Math Lab. MyMathLab is a comprehensive software system designed to help students progress from basic mathematics through calculus and statistic, with internet-based assignments and tests. This software is used in most developmental math courses, including Basic Mathematics (Math 0300), Pre-algebra (Math 0301), Elementary Algebra (Math 0307), and Intermediate Algebra (Math 0311).

    The Math Lab also offers some credit courses using the MyMathLab and Passkey software. These courses include Basic Mathematics (Math 0100 and 0101), Pre-algebra (Math 0102, 0103, 0104) and Elementary Algebra (Math 0105, 0106, 0107). THEA preparation (HUMD Math) is also offered in the Math Lab.
  • Walk-in tutoring
    Walk-in tutoring is available for all developmental math courses and most college level math courses, such as College Algebra, Contemporary Liberal Arts Math, Trigonometry, Statistics, Pre-calculus and Calculus. Students with all levels of skills in mathematics can get help with concepts and assignments in the Math Lab and should Inquire in the lab about current tutor schedules.
  • Video/CD check-out
    Students can get even more help with their math by borrowing supplemental videos. Many current textbooks have accompanying videos by the book’s author that explain the lessons and work examples. The Math Lab offers these videos in VHS and CD formats*. These resources can be checked out by students for two days at a time.
    *Please note that the CD’s are for use in a PC or Mac; they are not DVD’s and will not run in a DVD player.
  • Textbooks available for in-lab use
    Copies of most current math textbooks are available in the Math Lab for student use. Current textbooks cannot be taken out of the math lab.
  • Test Preperation software
    Currently enrolled students can use Passkey software to prepare for THEA, Accuplacer and NET tests.
