Veterans Educational Benefits Checklist
Documentation needed for all students requesting benefits:
- Copy of your current degree plan, signed by your academic advisor
- MCC Request for VA Benefits form – COMPLETE ONLINE or stop by the Financial Aid Office to request a paper Request for Benefits form.

Chapter 33 - Post-9/11 GI Bill
- Certificate of Eligibility
- May be applied for using the DD 22-1990 beginning 1 June 2009 or online using the VA VON-APP system
- NOTE: Your Certificate of Eligibility MUST be on file with the MCC Financial Aid office in order to use the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
- Copy of your DD-214
Chapter 30 - Montgomery G.I. Bill - Active Duty
Chapter 1606 - Montgomery G.I. Bill - Selected Reserve
- VA Form 22-1990 - Application for VA Educational Assistance [view & print] or [complete online]
- Copy of your DD-2384 Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE) - this form is provided by your reserve unit
Chapter 35 - Survivors/Dependents Education Benefits
Additional documents needed for transfer students who have received VA benefits at another college
Application Procedure
- Bring your completed documentation to the Financial Aid Office. Once submitted to the Financial Aid Office, your paperwork will be processed according to the regulations and guidelines set forth by the Department of Veterans Affairs as outlined in the attached documents. Education pamphlets are available in the Financial Aid Office.
