International Students

McLennan Community College has established its International Student Program (F-1 Visa) according to the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Service. We welcome students from all over the world. The college will consider for admission international students who apply from their native countries, as well as international students who have completed a program of study in the United States and wish to transfer to McLennan Community College. An example of a program of study could be an English as a Second Language program at any U.S. institution.

If you are applying as an entering freshman, you must have the equivalent of a United States high school diploma (based upon a combined elementary and secondary pattern of twelve years). Also, if you have taken the American College Test (ACT)or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT), we encourage you to submit those official scores.

Transfer students from a United States university must hold an overall grade point average of 2.00 or higher ("A=4.0"). Also, the International Student Advisor must sign a transfer authorization form.

Application

Submit a complete MCC Application to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment and a non-refundable application fee of $50.00 to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment. All documents should be sent at least 90 days before the beginning of the semester in which admission is desired.

International Student Information Sheet

Submit a complete International Student Information Sheet (I.S.I.S) to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment.

Transcripts

Entering freshmen must submit a completed secondary school (high school) transcript, certificate, and/or national test examination scores (as appropriate for the educational system in their home country) to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment. Documents in a language other than English must be accompanied by English translations certified by a University Official. Translations supplement, but do not replace, original documents. Transfer students must submit official transcripts/mark sheets from all colleges attended (U.S. and abroad). You must submit a transfer authorization form (included in the I.S.I.S.) and current copies of the I-20 and I-94 forms.

TOEFL Testing

The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required of all international applicants from non-native English speaking countries. The minimum acceptable score is 500 on the written test, or 173 on the computer-based test. The McLennan Community College TOEFL code is 6429. Additional information about the TOEFL may be obtained from www.ets.org.

Financial Statement

The U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service requires that international students show proof that adequate resources are available to meet the first year of educational and living expenses (estimated at $10,000). The Financial Statement Form is included in the I.S.I.S. and must be completed and returned with the indicated documentation (statement of resources, sponsor signed affidavit and bank statement). All fees and costs are subject to change.

Health Requirements

A tuberculin test must be obtained within one week of enrollment at the college and interpreted by a licensed physician in the United States. If the test results are positive, a chest x-ray will also be required. Evidence of having begun a series of poliovirus vaccine inoculations must be provided to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment at the time of enrollment and should be completed as soon as it is medically possible after enrollment. Documented evidence of rubella (measles), tetanus and diphtheria vaccination must be submitted to the Office of Admissions & Recruitment at the time of enrollment. The health requirement document is included in the I.S.I.S.

*Once a student has been accepted into the college and has arrived on campus, he or she must take and complete the THEA Test or an approved alternative test. You may obtain more information about the THEA Test or approved alternative from the MCC Testing Center.

After all these steps are complete, students must pick up a current Credit Class Schedule and a Course Advising Form at the Office of Admissions & Recruitment. You can also search the Credit Class Schedule online.

If you have any questions about the admissions process, please contact the Office of Admissions & Recruitment.

NOTE:

If you are a returning International Student you MUST complete the International Student Update Form prior to registration for the next semester.
