MCC hosting All-Steinway School 10th Anniversary Concert Oct. 11

Posted: September 30, 2019

McLennan Community College & the MCC Foundation will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the College's All-Steinway School designation with a concert featuring the renowned Anderson & Roe Piano Duo at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 in the Ball Performing Arts Center on the MCC campus.

Greg Anderson and Elizabeth Joy Roe are revolutionizing the piano duo experience for the 21st century. Hailed as "the most dynamic duo of this generation" (San Francisco Classical Voice) and "rock stars of the classical music world" (Miami Herald), the Anderson & Roe Piano Duo has appeared on PBS and MTV, recorded Billboard chart-topping albums, toured worldwide as recitalists and orchestral soloists, and released Emmy-nominated, self-produced music videos viewed by millions. The duo has performed at MCC numerous times since the College received the All-Steinway designation in 2009.

The McLennan Community College Foundation is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization that may accept tax-deductible contributions. The MCC Foundation has $21 million in assets under management, resources that it uses to support student scholarships, faculty and staff professional development, and capital improvements for the college and the students it serves. In so doing, the Foundation hopes to enhance the quality of life, encourage success, and positively change the futures of students and their families.

One of the most significant capital projects for the Foundation in recent years was the campaign to become an All-Steinway School. The MCC Foundation Board of Directors recognized in late 2009 that the piano inventory of the College was not only severely worn but also included instruments that could no longer be repaired. As a result of this finding, the Board approved a campaign to raise $911,000 for the purchase of 27 new Steinway pianos and create an endowed maintenance fund to maintain the new instruments in the highest quality. The campaign was completed successfully and the Steinway fund now accepts donations to continue to fund Steinway-related enrichment activities. At the time, MCC was only the third college in Texas to be named an All-Steinway School.

Concert tickets are $20 and are available through the MCC Box Office at 299-8200 or
