For over forty years, the MCC Music Department has been actively involved in preparing music majors for transfer to four-year institutions as well as providing musical experiences for the MCC community and McLennan County. Students have the opportunity to perform in major ensembles as well as study privately with full-time music professionals. Our music majors successfully transfer to major universities across the state of Texas and former MCC music majors currently teach and perform throughout the United States.
The department is housed on the beautiful MCC campus in the Wilbur A. Ball Performing Arts Center (BPAC) and the Music & Theatre Arts Building (MTA). Facilities include a 350-seat theatre, a 100-seat recital hall, sound-proof practice rooms, a fully-computerized music learning lab, rehearsal halls, as well as studio and office space for the teaching faculty. MCC is one of only three community colleges in the nation to be designated an All-Steinway institution.
