TexShare Library Card Program
The TexShare Library Card program allows students to borrow materials
from a number of participating academic and public libraries throughout
the state of Texas. TexShare Library cards are issued to current MCC
students, faculty and staff at the MCC Library Check-in/Out Desk.
You will have to fill out a TexShare application and provide two forms
of identification. You may fill the
TexShare application form out online
and print a copy to bring to the library, or you can fill out the application
by obtaining a copy from a library staff member.
A list of libraries that participate in the program are available at
the Texas
State Library web site, including links the each library's
catalog and lending policies. Students borrowing from other libraries
through the TexShare Card program must agree to the rules of the lending
library. Students must be in good standing with the MCC Library (i.e.,
not have any overdue books or fines) to take advantage of these services.
A TexShare Card is good for one semester only.

The TexShare card program is a reciprocal borrowing program. It is designed to allow the registered users of participating
institutions to directly borrow materials from the libraries of other participating institutions. Registered users must obtain a TexShare Card from their home institution before they
are able to check out materials from other participating institutions.
To be eligible for the TexShare Card Program, you must:
- Be in good standing at your home library. The TexShare Card is a privilege for those who have proven that they can use library services
in a responsible manner.
- Present valid identification along with the TexShare Card in order to borrow materials from participating TexShare libraries.
- Return materials to the library from which they were borrowed, not to your home library.
- Return materials in person or by any other methods as outlined in the library's lending policy.
- Be responsible for any charges for late, damaged, or lost materials.
To take advantage of the TexShare Card Program, follow these simple steps:
- Apply for a TexShare Card at the circulation desk of your home library.
- See the TexShare website for a list of participating libraries and
specific lending policies of the libraries you wish to visit.
- Present your TexShare Card at the reciprocating library's circulation
desk to activate your checkout privileges. You will be also required
to show a photo ID.
- Check out the books or other materials at the circulation desk of
the reciprocating library. It is your responsibility to take care of
your borrowed materials and return them on time.
