Education:
Hello! My name is Melesia Henry, I am the Program Director of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at McLennan Community College. I graduated from Mississippi College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. I completed my Master’s of Science in Nursing at The University of Mississippi. I am a Member of Sigma Theta Tau, and I am listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities. I was honored to be a Minnie Piper nominee in 2008. I am a member of Texas Nursing Association, National League of Nursing, Texas Organization of Associate Degree Nursing, and National Organization of Associate Degree Nursing. I am currently preparing to peruse a Doctorate degree in Adult Education.
Experience:
I am a Maternal Newborn Clinical Nurse Specialist. I have over 26 years of nursing experience primarily in Labor and Delivery and education. I have special interests in High Risk Pregnancies, and Adolescent Pregnancy. I enjoy doing community presentations and education on Women’s Health, Heart Health, and Domestic Violence. I enjoy teaching Childbirth classes, sibling classes, and Babysitting classes. I also teach CPR, Neonatal Resuscitation, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Fetal Monitoring courses.
Family:
I am married to a terrific guy who is an awesome cook and is blessed with an amazing vocal gift!! My husband is a Minister and is completing his Master’s of Divinity Degree at George W. Truett Seminary at Baylor University. We celebrated 20 years of marriage this past May, and look forward to many more years together. We have a fourteen year old daughter who is a freshman at China Spring High School. We are both originally from Mississippi, we moved to Texas in 2005. We have also lived in Alabama and Charleston, South Carolina where our daughter was born. We have a very spoiled Chihuahua, her name is Coco and she is 4 years old.
Interests and Hobbies:
My hobbies are reading, scrapbooking, thread count crocheting, and watching movies with my daughter. I enjoy coordinating mission projects, Vacation Bible School, and assisting my husband in ministering to others. I have a passion for participating in International Medical Mission Trips. Our entire family enjoys participating in mission opportunities both domestic and international.
I have a passion for nursing and education and I am very excited about my position as Program Director of the ADN program at MCC. I am excited about having the opportunity to be a part of making it not only The Best ADN program in Texas, but one of the best in the nation!!!!
