MCCOPA

From the MCC President

A record number of students have attended McLennan Community College in the last 43 years for a high-quality, affordable education. Enrollment in the fall of 2009, for example, topped 9,000. This increase in MCC's student population would not be possible without the dedication and talent of our support staff. These devoted men and women, who are often the first people a student meets at MCC, are usually the communication lines between faculty, staff, students, and administration.

Since 1971, MCCOPA has brought these team players together to improve the quality of life at MCC for everyone – students, faculty and staff. MCCOPA's membership comprises clerks, bookkeepers, office assistants, secretaries, and other educational support personnel. Its mission is:

  • to promote the interests of educational office support personnel
  • to share ideas, information and comradeship with other educational support staff
  • to support and assist in personal and professional growth
  • to refine existing skills and develop leadership qualities
  • to promote high standards and values throughout the community and the college

MCCOPA members meet every month from September to May. Each October, supervisors look forward to a luncheon hosted by the organization in celebration of Bosses Day. Each year, MCCOPA members hold one or more fundraisers. These funds support the annual MCCOPA Scholarship for an MCC student and various other charities on and off campus. MCCOPA's contributions to MCC are many, and the commitment of its members is unparalleled. I hope you will join me in acknowledging this fine organization.
