GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
To perform skilled maintenance and repair tasks on heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing systems, controls, and equipment. Receives general supervision from the Central Utilities Supervisor. Exercises no supervision.
Note: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: Three years of related experience necessary.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree HVAC Technologies, Certification or a related field.
SPECIAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and be Insurable under the College's driver's insurance policy.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (1) basic HVAC system design, equipment capabilities, and requirements; (2) methods, materials, equipment, and tools used in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing system installation, maintenance, and repair; (3) use and maintenance of a variety of power and hand tools; (4) basic electronics, pneumatics, and mechanics as applied to the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems operation and maintenance; (5) assist in the maintenance, installation, and repair of complex HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, equipment, and components; (6) read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and sketches; (7) establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; (8) universal refrigerant recovery certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Exertive: Significant exertion on a daily basis. Awkward postures and work positions; sustained activities require strength (e.g. using tools). Frequent moderate lifting (30-60 lbs.) Continual Exposure or Recurring Risk: At least half of each week requires exposure to sensory extremes. Several times weekly, exposure to chance of injury or loss of life, requiring additional safety precautions. Frequent climbing 10 - 20 feet.
