GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

Instruct courses in both developmental and college-level mathematics. Developmental education knowledge and experience desirable. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to participating in departmental efforts to measure student learning outcomes: student advising, maintaining office hours, participating in college committees, supporting collaboration with other educational institutions in the community, participating in professional development including mentoring, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills. May include evening and off-campus classes. Candidates should be prepared to teach in a variety of non-traditional venues, such as Internet, two-way interactive video, and Internet/traditional classroom combinations. This position reports to the Director, Math/Science/HPE Division.

Note: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in math.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Experience with developmental mathematics instruction, dual credit classes, and distance learning techniques.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Ability to: (6) teach at the post secondary level; (7) measure student learning outcomes; (8) use technology in support of instruction; (9) evaluate student performance; (10) establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; (11) communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; (12) advise students; (13 ) participate in college committees; (14) work across departments to develop student communication, computation, and problem-solving skills; (15) work collaboratively with other math educators throughout the service area.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical effort-restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs), some walking, pushing, pulling on a regular basis. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
