Adult Basic Education

Welcome to the national award-winning McLennan Community College Adult Education program. The program is one of the most active community voices in combating illiteracy in McLennan, Falls, and Bosque counties. It was honored in March of 2000 as a recipient of the United States Department of Education Secretary's Award for Outstanding Adult Education and Literacy because of its experience in serving out-of-school youths and adults.

Mission Statement

McLennan Community College Adult Educaton Program is dedicated to providing a quality program for adults who are educationally disadvantaged. Classes are provided at convenient locations and times. Adult education offers classes for basic education, GED preparation, English-as-a-Second Language, workforce and family literacy, personal development, and life-long learning in a positive and caring environment.

This program provides services that meet the standards set by Texas Education Agency Adult Education Division and McLennan Community College.

Volunteer Opportunities

The program utilizes volunteers to provide one-on-one instruction to students. The volunteer would be directly under the supervision of an adult education instructor: therefore, ongoing, individualized tutor training as well as professional staff development is available
