Ball Performing Arts Center, Fine Arts Theatre & Bosque River Stage

The Theatre Program:

  • Offers freshman and sophomore-level courses in performance, technical theatre and theatre history leading toward an Associates, Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.
  • Features a full complement of freshman and sophomore-level movement and dance courses.
  • Provides supporting coursework within the Visual & Performing Arts Division in music, including private voice instruction for theatre majors who qualify.
  • Produces four fully mounted productions annually, including plays, musical theatre and originally conceived dance works; the Music Department mounts a fully staged opera.
  • Features the Performing Arts Center, completed in 1985, which houses a 350-seat standard proscenium theatre with computer-assisted technical support, including an updated computerized lighting system (240 dimmers/ETC control console) installed in 1999.
  • Offers an intimate studio (black box) theatre housed in the Fine Arts Building, recently retrofitted with new theatre seating.
  • Operates professionally equipped scenery and costume shops.
  • Provides a state-of-the-art dance studio.
  • Features an outdoor amphitheatre, the Bosque River Stage, a 510-seat performance facility built at the McLennan marina in 2001.
