Men's Golf Coach - Vince Clark

Vince Clark took the reins of the MCC men’s golf program in 2007 after spending the previous six years as an assistant in the program.

In only his second year as head coach, Clark led the Highlanders to the 2009 National Junior College Athletic Association National Championship, the second title in school history. The team’s success earned him Region V, NJCAA and Golf Coaches Association of America Eaton/Golf Pride Coach of the Year honors. Sophomore Curt McCormac earned first-team All-American honors, and freshman Jeremy Lambright was an honorable mention All-American selection.

In 2008, Clark led the Highlanders to a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA national championships in Huntsville, Ala., and Peter Fallon was named an All-American.

In addition to his coaching duties, Clark has taught history and government classes since joining the MCC faculty in 1994.

A Springfield, Mo., native, Clark learned the game from his grandfather, a champion golfer.

Clark earned his bachelor’s degree in history in 1983 and received his law degree in 1985, both from Baylor University. He then moved to Tyler, where he practiced law for five years. But in his desire to teach, Clark returned to Baylor and earned a master’s in history in 1991. He pursued graduate studies at the University of Virginia for two years before returning to Waco in 1994.
