Highlander Baseball Volunteer Assistant Coach - Adam Hornung

Former Highlander first baseman Adam Hornung returns this year as a volunteer assistant coach.

Hornung began his junior college career at San Jacinto College, where he helped the Gators to a third-place finish at the Junior College World Series. He transferred to MCC as a sophomore and was a first-team all-conference selection, hitting .415 with 12 home runs, 57 RBI and 51 runs scored. He ranked tied for 26th in the nation for home runs and tied for 30th in hits with 80.

He continued his college career across town at Baylor University. He was the only player to start in all 58 games his junior season. His .320 batting average, 71 hits and eight home runs was the second highest on the team. As a senior, he hit .254 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 19th round of the 2009 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Hornung graduated from Lorena High School in 2005. He is an education major at Baylor and is expected to graduate in December.
