Wireless Access Guidelines
1.0 Introduction
The goal of these guidelines is to protect McLennan Community College technology-based resources from unauthorized use and/or malicious attack that could result in loss of information, damage to critical applications, or damage to our public image. All users employing wireless methods of accessing College technology resources must adhere to College defined processes for doing so, using College approved access points. Unauthorized access to the wireless network is not allowed.
The following guidelines are complementary to any previously implemented guidelines/policies dealing specifically with network access and remote access to the enterprise network.
2.0 Purpose
The purpose of these guidelines is to provide instructions for Wireless network connections to McLennan Community College's internal network. MCC's Wireless network is designed to provide secure/encrypted access to network resources on the MCC Network.
3.0 Guidelines
3.1 All students and faculty/staff will have access to McLennan Community College wireless network via their user login and password.
3.2 Wireless gateways will be set up and managed only by McLennan Community College Information Services.
3.3 By using MCC's Wireless Network with personal equipment, users must understand that their machines are a de facto extension of McLennan Community College's network, and as such must comply with McLennan Community College's Information Systems & Services guidelines/policies.
3.4 It is the responsibility of the user to maintain latest virus definitions, operating system service packs and spyware removal software.
3.5 It is the responsibility of the users with wireless privileges to ensure that unauthorized persons are not allowed access to McLennan Community College internal networks.
3.6 McLennan Community College does not allow Network Sniffing software on the wireless network. Users found using this type of software will be removed from wireless network.
3.7 Only registered students and employees can access internet through MCC's wireless network.
4.0 Enforcement
Any user found to have violated these guidelines may be subject to loss of certain privileges or services, including but not necessarily limited to loss of Wireless services.
